The European University Association (EUA) has published a position paper advocating ambitious EU funding for research and innovation (R&I) in Europe post-2020. It contributes to the upcoming discussion on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9).

EUA calls on the European Union and its member states to ensure sufficient, sustainable and ambitious funding for the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9), so as to be able to support significantly more excellent research and innovation proposals. The paper reiterates the strategic importance of fostering a united and prosperous knowledge-based society in Europe, which needs to remain a high  priority despite the uncertain political and economic context. In this spirit, the Association puts forward several funding scenarios to support significantly more excellent research and innovation proposals.
